  • Toaster is good. We’ve used that for years and it’s memed hard. Its origin is toward AI and physical robots. Even though it’s a slur based on the first model Cylon having a toaster face, it implies robots are simple and they generate ridiculous amounts of heat to do a simple task.

We don’t need to reinvent the wheel here just because someone had a viral video on TikTok. Clanker sounds so dumb too. Especially for protocol bots that have no moving parts beyond data centre fans and pumps.

It will burst. AI is improving at the same rate it always has and no one’s surprised, just LLMs have gotten attention from normal users who seem to think “this is AI”.

For actual AI, nothing has changed. You still need extremely well governed data and lots and lots of controlled training, lots and lots of condition farming and resolving, all at considerable cost not worth it for BAU, just AI-soecific projects.

It’s already bursting, as people realise what is AGI and what is non-logic LLMs and why the latter has limited use, especially with awful mass “training”.

The most realistic outcome is that LLMs are able to assist in increasing the pace of AGI.

  • What Deere did was even more harsh. They tried to block off not only self repair, but third-party firmware that made the tractors work better, especially older ones that were out of warranty.

That’s straight up a major federal crime in my country. So that should give Americans an idea how balanced their scale of justice is at the moment.

The consumer and supplier ALWAYS get equal and fair protection, lest a business becomes based on ripping people off with product instead of the product itself.

  • On Reddit, I once bragged about having universal healthcare and got called a Nazi and a communist at the same time.

This is what happens when Xbox kids that use the n-word grow up. They learn new “bad” words and throw them around out of context and contradictingly. They don’t actually know what those things are, though, so it never makes sense.

I’ve been called a tankie here. I didn’t know what it was and looked it up, just to discover it was the literal opposite of the things I was saying. I was very confused and just put it down to frustrated self-projection. At some point they had been called that, it upset them, so now they use it to upset people too but they still don’t actually know what it is they’re saying.

If I see someone defaulting to Russian bot or tankie, I’ve found another Xbox kid and it’s in my best interests to just move on.

  • There’s a few possibly contradicting points in that article which raise questions over the quality of the “over 100,000” quantity surveyed.

While I’m sure percentages would obviously be in decline, I suspect the 100,000 doest have a diversity that can represent national per capita stats.

Edit: Frequently I feel like “question everything unusual” doesn’t apply when it’s what Lemmy wants to hear. So, no doubt I am a Trump supporter 👍 Just in before that happens.

Edit Edit: And…sigh…_ “/s” on the Trump supporting. Because the same crowd needs “/s”.
