can anyone ELI5 why music streaming never fragmented like TV streaming did?

An album being exclusive to a particular platform seem to be incredible rare. TV platform continuously remove things from the catalog to reduce costs but that does not seem to happen often in music.

three things that seem to be untouchable In Spain:

• The monarchy
• Football
• Bullfighting.

since the last time I checked (could be they’ve made progress since then):

• subtitle auto sync
• smart collections
• way better support for downloads, particularly transcoded ones
• skip intro and credits
• better UI (this one is subjective but I did find annoying little bugs often)
• I’ve found that it takes way longer to update & scan larger libraries
• overall disparity between clients on different platforms (in my case, webos, firetv and iOS).

in short it’s a lot of tiny little things that make my overall experience just annoying.

do you know of alternative? I wanted to leave them because of this but found they most other options were not as close as good.

yes, but my question is specifically about ‘sources’. Saying “public trackers” is like asking how to get to a supermarket and answering “use the roads”. Also a lot of public tracker sites do not have a API readily availble, hence my question.

In the end I learned about prowlarr and jackett, which is the piece I was missing.

that’s the structure of a bluray disk. It includes all that the player needs to play it (e.g. menus, chapters, etc). The STREAM folder contains the actual video, probably in a .m2ts file (you can convert it to mkv using ffmpeg or similar tools)

h264 and H265 (not 10bit) is so well supported that it is hardly an issue.

A lot of it is just difference in vision. FOSS projects often have an owner and they might not be open to switch the direction of their project or be willing to maintain a large feature that someone wants to contribute.

I run it headless in a small pc in my basement that I use as server. it also has an http api so other systems can integrate with it (eg another program that looks for torrents and pushes the torrents into it.

Transmission can run as a daemon, that alones makes it S tier.

I also was not aware that people would pay strangers to use their plex servers. Im not surprised plex is going after them. They are threading a very fine line already.
