Big nope from me dawg
As an open source developer, I’d love to have had contributors to help package my apps. It was killing me maintaining everything by myself. It sounds like the control issues I had when I first had contributors, where I didn’t want others to touch my babies too much when people actually started writing code.
I mean I’d say the Stage of Technology we’ve been in since like 2010 has been very detrimental for the individual and destructive to society. Social media, smartphones, surveillance states. AI is an even worse version of these. If social media ran by billionaires are not open, unbiased, non-manipulative emotional-reactaction-over-critical-thinking silos, what makes you think all these LLMs run by millionaires and billionaires won’t be? They’re just the next step in social media.
It’s more about data collection than it is about verifying age
I’ll keep ncmpcpp, thanks. I haven’t used a gui music player in years. They seem so goofy now.
My only exception to that are uber drivers. But then again we live in an age where somehow better help has become popular, even though they sell your data.
But can you do it detectably? Because that’s just as easy. This isn’t 95
My bank uses that and personal info, and I have to be calling from a registered number.
I had such a pain trying to get a consistent client working on mobile.
I don’t really worry about that. I treat it like natural conversation, or traditional chat rooms. I mean I don’t need a recap when I show up at a party. I just jump in. I’ve never heard of a bouncer, but I think it would turn it into more of a feed than a conversation, which is the opposite of what I want.
I’m tired of feeds and timelines. AOL chat rooms were my formative internet years, and I liked that. I think the old style of internet communication is better than the feed silos we have now. Besides, I hardly ever go back and look at older convos in other spaces. I usually hit mark all as read when I open the app.
I don’t know why people don’t use irc, I’m in it daily and it’s busier than Matrix, and even busier than some Discord servers I’m in. And there’s mobile clients. There’s even way less bots and spam
indeed. new experiences should be remembered…like a human.
Bad code. Guinea pig owners. Cars not communicating with each other. Relying on just the car’s vision and location is stupid.
It’s really been great
I’m using like 30 block lists with over 1,900,000 blocked domains. There is a site that had a bunch of blocklists and I just grabbed most of them
I think it’s my LG TV. But it has its own service that I also block.
Here is the service from xfinity that I’m talking about. It’s relatively new to my network and has increased my blocked percentage by a lot. Mind you, I have 1,900,000+ domains on my blocklist
So does your isp, and uses that for targeted ads. My pihole is constantly blocking a domain ran by xfinity that collects data for their targeted ad service
Yeah I have a raspberry pi ‘syncthing hub’ that keeps all my devices uniform down to dot files and configs. It’s so essential. It’s so nice as well to be able to switch from my desktop to a laptop and continue coding seamlessly. Everything is ready as soon as I log to my computer. Don’t have to use any kind of service like google cloud, etc.
Like what do you need to keep configured? lol Linux is set it and forget it. I’ve had installs be fine from day one to year 7. It’s not like windows where Microsoft is constantly changing things and changing your settings. Like it takes minimum effort to keep a Linux server/system going after initial configuration.
