LinkedIn is as much Social Media as talking with your manager is Socializing.
It’s really plastic and fake feeling there, more so than anywhere else.

Oh no, not a penny degree. help, somebody help us.
Okay, I’m genuinely confused about the NextCloud hate.
I’ve been using it for a month, and It’s literally had 0 issues.
Nothing about it seems unstable or slow. I’m 99% certain if you’re having issues with nextcloud, it’s a hardware issue.
If this isn’t your first round on linux, Try Debian, set it to use non-free contrib packages and set the appstore to install apps as flatpaks before native.
Avoid using Ubuntu based distros as they run Snap packages which are just a general nightmare for users.
Snaps make sense for servers, but the only reason Ubuntu forces it on users is $$$$.
While I see an extensive amount of “Embrace, Extend, Extinguish” and do agree that this is the typical logic of Microsoft.
It’s obvious this is to try and avoid getting hit with similar monopoly accusations that their competitors are receiving.
“Look, Look!! We support other Operating Systems! We have a guide! We’re not a monopoly! See, See!!”
Cool. Now fix the other issues with Linux VR.
VR is literally the last reason I have a windows install at all.
casusally skipping millenium edition because most people opted to buy windows 2000, the enterprise server os instead.
Windows 2000 couldn’t run games because it was based on Windows NT and the NT Kernel. ME was still based on DOS. XP frankensteined the NT Kernel and DOS to somehow make the most stable, longest running and best windows ever.
And 20 years later they’re bleeding marketshare.
Good news: This will result in more average-user understanding of the fediverse, getting past the consistent issue of people not understanding it. It will increase the Fediverse’s usershare by a considerable amount. And to top it all off, it will probably cause a snowball which will make the Fediverse as a whole eclipse twitter.
Bad news: This is being done by facebook, willingly. Any company that is taking action like this is doing so for their own benefit and no one elses. This may be detrimental to the Fediverse in the long run if users opt to all just jump on to Threads because of some obnoxious ‘Embrace, Extend, Extinguish’ tactic they may or may not pull in the future.
