Felt like a good bit of art and story wrapped in a… satisfactory rogue lite. Really lite.
Almost like they wanted an evil Animal Crossings but with combat, but didn’t really care about the combat.
The DLC made combat a bit better though.

Character.ai filing for bankruptcy after adopting it so quick and feeding it to a loyal customer base is probably a sign the bubble is bursting.
Literally, they were one of the biggest and most successful AI resellers and they couldn’t stay afloat. Successful as in “people used their product a ton for free” though I think.
these companies get so much funding from investors they forget they have to make money and not just spend it on giving people free AI products.

I’d say ethics aside, it’s inherently dangerous to pirate executable files… so there’s an argument to just not do it to avoid viruses.
I personally would never pirate an executable file for that reason alone. A lot of games have demos these days thankfully, so that’s a way to get a taste and see if it’s worth buying. And in my experience, I got bored of several demos and saved money! And some I realized I would probably really enjoy it.
Ethically though? I mean, if they offer a demo and they’re an indie studio, I think it’s much more ethical to try the demo.

When they’re told to automate every aspect of their job until they can get laid off, would you blame them?

I’m sure the devs did a quick search for sexual keywords to clean it up after the news came out

Yeah tbh, they shouldn’t have to take that down. It’s the least of the bad shit they’re doing, and showing fake violence is just in poor taste.
Could be STEM as a whole. Everyone glamorizes it, but it’s definitely not for everyone. Shit, my family literally got upset when I suggested I might want to be a writer.

I would argue it’s normalizing.
For fucks sake, the last 30 years have been insane, especially with the dotcom boom and bust.
Suddenly every dipshit adult was telling their kids, “computers are the future, the internet is the future, and you can’t survive with just a highschool degree. You better go to college and learn programming!!”
Those parents are a bit to blame with how things got. And it seemed like they were pretty accurate too as high speed internet became huge, and lithium batteries thus mobile phones…
I always was interested in programming, since before my mom pushed me into it, because she was one of those types too. Then I went to college, and I met a bunch of teenagers who said, “uhhh I don’t know what I want to do but I want it make money so I’m doing computer science”.
The first year of college usually filtered those people out. Usually.
And i’ve always said, don’t join this career for the money. It’s not worth it, if you don’t love engineering. This is the most stressful fucking job I’ve ever had, and there are tons of meetings and social activity to go with it. You can’t just solve puzzles in a vacuum, even if you like programming, and that’s EVEN if you enjoy it. You have to start leading others at some point, act like a mentor.
You take on a fucking lot of responsibility, start giving demos, working with product managers, marketers, help teach people what is possible in the product and what isn’t. This isn’t a chill gig. It rarely is. It usually involves a fuck ton of effort and planning.
You get paid a lot… But honestly, if you’re actually doing the job well, you’re underpaid even then. Often you will be underpaid compared to the effort you put in. Especially now.
Not as many people should be in software engineering as there are. I talk to people sometimes and you can tell they hate this job. It’s okay, and I don’t blame them, but way too many people got sucked into this career for the wrong reasons, then kinda now have to keep doing it to survive.
I’m glad I still enjoy it but I see a lot of fucking burnout right now. But I have to say, the people leaving the job now, some of them, not all but some, might be some of the types that shouldn’t have jumped into it in the first place. Lots of people were told they’re smart and good with computers so should make money doing it.
Some of those smart people should’ve done other smart jobs. Biotech is huge too, but I don’t see the drive to it like there was for making fucking websites.

“I use arch btw”

I had a boomer normie ask me how to use AI to develop his new “business” website telling me that he didn’t want to hire a developer if the developer would just use AI anyway.
This guy doesn’t know what a router is, and was asking me for help trying to understand what the AI was telling him, and it was the most basic shit.
When the normies are trying to invest in AI, they’re the last to invest and know to throw money at it. That was a big signal to me that the bubble is about to pop. Money is running out and the boomers are trying to get in on it.

It is an ad.
“Hey guys it’s more dangerous now, we totally didn’t train it to be, totally not our fault”

Even with heroin they waited until after

It’s extremely difficult from a cooling perspective IIRC, way more than on earth. Like you have to vent into a near vacuum, which is one of the best insulators.

Zombr? Zombi? I bet they have a logo ready

They literally just got web slinging right and the childhood dream of a game where you fly through building and stop random crimes as Spiderman worked as it did in your imagination.
that was a big feat but yeah, those games were over hyped when they were basically just really fun to move around in

It’s a good point. He might have ruined his “brand” in some ways, but he always kept some people believing he’s some sort of super genius, the kind of people that think intelligence is directly proportional to your net worth.
He does some super cringe shit trying to pretend he’s a genius online and most don’t fall for it, but as long as some wealthy people do, he’ll continue to have his brand.
Also his stocks have made some people rich, are usually way overvalued, so even people that hate the fuck usually know not to bet against his stocks. He is pretty good at blatantly manipulating the fuck out of the market no matter what the news cycle is, and he never suffers consequences.

I mean I hate Musk as much as the next Musk hater, but I can understand why SpaceX IPO’d and why OpenAI would hide their audit and finances.
SpaceX literally made self-landing rockets. They’re not a Tesla or a Boring Company bullshit scam. They did something that was amazing, and still is, and opened the door to much cheaper launches into orbit, meaning they can get so many government contracts for anything they need to do in space.
It is WAY cheaper to put stuff in orbit now thanks to SpaceX. That’s why they also went for low earth orbit internet and did starlink. Their own tech made starlink possible. Now I’d never use starlink because fuck Musk, but this is a direct result of SpaceX doing groundbreaking work.
Literally everything Musk does rides on the popularity of SpaceX actually making a massive achievement in rocketry. Tesla fucking sucks and doesn’t even make the best self driving electric vehicles. The Boring company was a failure and/or scam. Starlink is a fucked up attempt to get everyone’s data… Which would be a cooler idea if it weren’t related to Musk but I need to have a tiny bit of trust in my ISP, sorry.
Only SpaceX ever did something cool, and it was legitimately really cool, and the result of good engineers doing work that Musk took the credit for.

I think people made some crazy magical assumptions about AI based on scifi that doesn’t apply to real life. Real things to consider and prepare for, but not likely.
Recursive exponential self improvement? Just because something knows how to code doesnt mean it can make the best ultimate next version of itself. Even physical evolution takes millions of years, and it creates mistakes and has setbacks.
We might be seeing logarithmic AI improvement today, like evolution hitting a hill that it can’t cross. We might need trillions more gigabytes of clean training data that isn’t LLM generated to hit the next level, and it might not even be worth it.
I think what the AI developers are doing by constantly promoting ai fear is linking the idea of exponential ai self improvement to it, because their biggest fear right now might be investors realizing that isn’t real, and every dollar they invest is getting less and less back.

oh yeah, it literally could just be robot dogs with “kill anyone who’s an insurgent, and detain anyone who assists insurgents” orders and AI to let them go buck wild with that prompt.
You could end up with children getting shot because an AI starts hallucinating if they don’t put adequate guard rails.
And that’s like a worst case situation. Realistically, you end up with just a lot more brutality in war because people are detached from the violence they cause as an invading force, and way less PTSD. Wars in the Middle East start sounding more and more like statistics that no one really wants to hear about, and there’s way less soldiers to choose to disregard unlawful orders.
You could see a fuck load more war crime with such human detachment, I think. We probably already deal with this to a large extent with drones.
Not that I’d prefer humans dying, but we should avoid robotic invasion wars like the plague imo.
I don’t know if you can do the dlc without finishing the main, but I will say combat got a bit better, it wasn’t overhauled. It just got a bit more difficult, requiring a bit more than just tapping attack, thinking more about combinations… But not much.
If you couldn’t finish the first, I wouldn’t get the dlc tbh
