Hmm, I don’t really think this counts as user space. This is a kernel configuration parameter. User facing for sure, so a bit of gray area perhaps.

Maintenance is not free? They still have to test it at the very least.

data=journal is just one mode of journaling. Not the entire feature.
Journaling all of the data is very expensive and slow and no one was using it.
Metadata journaling as always the main feature and is still present.

On our own?

No, the journal is not deprecated. Only data journaling is.
Metadata is still journaled and is what most people have been using all this time.

They are not removing the journal.

The metadata journal is still there. Most people are not journaling their data, it’s too slow.

Tits Tits!

You’re supposed to (hate it).

I didn’t mean fixing them. Just categorizing them. Eliminating duplicates. Marking some as ‘won’t fix’, etc.

Who was saying it was otherwise? Containers are not virtualization and never have been.

Can you use an llm to triage the other llm’s bug reports? Fire with fire.

You might want to configure xdg to open what you want instead.

Unless other distros switch away from coreutils, it will remain the standard. It seems a lot of work for little/no upside.

So, they will have to continue to support feature for feature, bug for bug with coreutils and others forever? What’s the endgame here?

If /home and /var are on disk and not USB then it might be ok. The rest of the os is typically only written when installing or configuring things.
Try it, might be fun.

Hello fellow old person. I too thought this was about the Hayes protocol.

Streisand effect much? I’ve never heard of this, but it sounds interesting. GitHub isn’t the only game in town. I expect to see this become more widespread. (There’s already 2.8k forks)

How to work on a team.
Pick a project. Sign up. Pick a bug or small feature. Work on it. Accept criticism. Repeat.
BTW ‘overtime’ and ‘over time’ have two very different meanings.
