I assumed we could both run Duplicati, connect over Tailscale and bing bong boom, send files back and forth. But Dupicati only allows uploads and only to its cloud service, not to other Dupicati instances.
Requirements: Needs to be docker, preferably something with a Web GUI. My friend is not tech savvy and I am not physically close enough to help troubleshoot.
PS- I am not committed to Dupicati it just is the most recommended. I’m open to anything simple and encrypted!

What platforms are you working with? Borg might serve you better than Duplicati, but last I checked there’s no official Windows version.
There’s also Kopia. I haven’t used it much personally but I’ve heard good things. It supports a range of upload protocols: https://kopia.io/docs/features/#save-snapshots-to-cloud-network-or-local-storage
Docker so it should be OS-independent, right?
Also I’m not looking to upload I’m looking for the docker app my friend installs to receive my backups.
I meant on your own system, running the backup software, since it sounds like Duplicate isn’t the best choice. Borg is a great backup program but it’s made for Linux. Kopia is cross-platform.
Sorry, I don’t have a go-to recommendation for the receiving end. In theory anything that can host WebDAV, SSH/SFTP, or an S3 endpoint would do the job.

This exists for windows although it has to run on WSL
