One can ask though; it this really a common approach for scammers? Don’t they mainly prey on elderly people that doesn’t know anything about tech? Somehow, I have a hard time imagine an 87yo grandma sideloading APKs from the internet…

I would say that a large community distro has most longevity of all variants. It doesn’t matter if some leave, others will join. It also doesn’t matter that the distro ain’t making profit, because it isn’t a company.


One would think they’d be extra careful not to piss the users off at this point… but no.
Mint on my main daily driver because I like the stability for work, and don’t need bleeding edge for common work stuff. MX Linux KDE on my Thinkpad because KDE plays extremely well with external screens, and I need to plug it in to a lot of different foreign monitors/projectors during a normal work week.
