Got busy today, so just making the post, will share my update in comment later.
What about all of you? What have you been playing and/or plan to play?
Spending most of my time with Pokémon Pokopia!
Reached the 2nd area. I wanted to complete everything in the first area before moving ahead, but I realised there are certain things you can’t do untill you unlock more stuff, which require you to move to next areas. So, moved to the next area and 'collecting" all the Pokémon.
Dropped Dying Light.
The game isn’t bad, but I just didn’t want a game like this right now. And by like this, I mean a difficult game where you weapons break, and you keep losing XP when you die (and can’t even get it back like in soulslike games). May return to it if any friend of mine wants to play it in coop, but since they aren’t patient gamers, I doubt they will return to this, which means I probably won’t return to this either.
No Tom Clancy’s The Division or Xuan Yuan Sword: Mists Beyond the Mountains this week. Some stuff going on life so not in a mood for a narrative games.
Finished Persona 5 Tactica. Overall, I like the story and new characters, but the gameplay remained too easy. Until the final boss, which took well over an hour, I didn’t even bother healing once. Of course, it’s the best battle in the game.
I think it is better than Strikers, which I thought didn’t work at all.
On the final stretch of AI Somnium Files: nirvanA Initiative, likely in the final psynch.
Almost all beans have been spilled, and the big revelation was explained. I still prefer the first games resolution, but this one is growing on me. It went from “That’s total bullshit” to “Wait a minute…” and finally “Shit, it’s actually somehow coming together”. To fully appreciate it, I think you’d have to play it twice.
Up next is likely Octopath 2, but maybe I’ll go for Nioh 2 or 13 Sentinels instead. Those 3 are my entire backlog atm.
Oooh, so close to clearing the whole backlog! All are pretty long games though, so may take a little while.
I was back in Pokotopia. I got to plan on a cloud island with a friend. Then our wives commented how we were playing the same game apart from each other on the same couch (as they both knitted on separate armchairs).
Played season three and four of Ticket to Ride Legacy. It’s really neat to see how the world expands after a game.
And I’m on chapter 15 of FFVII Remake. I watched a play through from ages ago that stopped here due to some copyright issues, so it’s neat to experience the last fourth or fifth of this different familiar story.
Finally, we’re just about to change over in my classroom from a basketball meta-game to a baseball-themed one. The plan is pull Kahoot scores on Wednesday and use those data points to populate six days worth of baseball games. The students drafted their teams Friday and the team captains will select their pitching rotation Monday. I’ll be posting daily standings and statistics for the students to pour over. I hope they dig it as much as they did the weekly brackets that the basketball-theme had.
Ticket to Ride is one of the family favourite, haven’t played “Legacy” though. How is it different?
We got Slay the Hero recently. Not a bad game, but too “attacky” for my taste, not sure how much we will play it. Also ordered Unstable Unicorns and Trash Pandas (chosen by kids) but haven’t received them yet. Will probably play those over the weekend.
Ring fit adventure. It does look better on the Switch 2 after the update. The bigger screen was already useful for handheld mode.
Did they ever update the game part of it? Adding more stuff or anything?
Pokopia on Switch
Still shiny hunting a starter in FRLG on Switch, currently at 105 hours and counting.
Thomas and the Wonders of Sodor on Steam lol
And Halo MCC. I’m building a Forge racetrack alone and then currently running Halo 1 with a buddy. Our plan is to do all of them since we just finished every Gears of War.
Nice! How far along are you in Pokopia?
Good luck with your shiny hunting!
Pokopia is a weird one. I’m like 50 hours in and have simultaneously done a lot of things and also nothing at the same time. I don’t even have one of the areas yet. I’ve been trying to build a train system to connect all of the rest stops but I’m not a high enough level to do that yet so a lot of my time is spent backtracking to other areas for supplies and it’s slowing down my progress a bit.
And thank you! Did like 6 more hours yesterday and I’m still at it today. Luckily I’ve played Gen 1 about 8 times with FireRed being at least two of those so I’m in no rush to begin.
Children of Morta and Danganronpa. Planning to get back into Persona 5 Royal
How are you liking Children of Morta? I don’t care about roguelikes but Children of Morta has been on my wishlist for so long, may just get it on sale some day to give it a try.
It’s a pretty interesting spin on how to decide on what weapon to use during a run - you choose different family members, each of them levels up separately, and every few levels you unlock a perk that gives a bit of a boost to the whole family.
I find it pretty nice, yet challenging - and after each run you get a new bit of story. I got it on sale myself, so I think it was definitely worth it.
I’ve been playing through Star Fox Adventures for the past week or so. I’m roughly halfway through as of today and have fallen in love with the game. Rare is one of my favorite developers, so coming back to a part of their history that I missed out on feels like coming home to an old friend.
The excitement only got bigger with the announcement of Fox coming to the Mario movie. And with rumor of a new game on the horizon, I’m making it my goal to properly familiarize myself with the series. Outside Adventures, the only Star Fox I’ve played was Command on the DS and a bit of 64. Guess it’s time to really sit down and get into them!
Ah, didn’t know about him coming to the Mario movie. Never played any Star Fox game (except some minutes of the first one, the one one NSO) so don’t really have any nostalgia for the character, but he looks cool, so will look forward to the rumoured game.
No significant progress this week, just a little bit of Witch on the Holy Night and Astalon: Tears of the Earth.
Tempted to start Atelier Resleriana: The Red Alchemist & the White Guardian because I think it’s a game that will work better with my current mood.
I think I’ll have to keep Atelier games for after my retirement. They are very laid back, and I start getting worried about other games.
Word, playing octopath traveler on the switch, chapter 4 so getting there
Have fun!
